And traveling with Sherri. Jan 01, Cheryl rated it it was amazing.

This is the second book in Kontis’ Woodcutter Sisters series, and while I loved Enchantedthis one just didn’t have the same spark. She is so bland I probably would have forgotten her name by now if it wasn’t so unique. The way they accept each other is great and heor a healthy thing for teens to read. She may have started Enchanted as a dare, but she seems to have expanded her and developed her story in a masterful, engaging way. I realized within minutes of making her acquaintance that I had made a terrible mistake. Alethea Hsro has often spoken of a novella in the making, chronicling the events that Trix encounters while Saturday is off hero-ing. A definite round of applause. Like the others, this book is a fairy-tale mash-up and while I couldn’t recognize all the references, I love the fairy-tale quality and overall fantasy aspect to these books!

Thanks konis go out to the staff of Aletjea Caverns in Virginia—I would not have been able to write about the Top of the World without you! This site uses cookies. While aboard Thursday’s ship Saturday is kidnapped by a witch’s raven familiar herp Saturday was mistaken for her famous adventuring brother Jack Woodcutter who stole the witch’s eyes.

Melodramatic Reviews Meet Saturday Woodcutter, a fierce, muscular girl who would much rather gallivant around the forest chopping down trees with her axe, than dance at a ball least alone in a dress!

The book started out OK, not great but xlethea enough and then fell apart halfway through. Oh, and she falls in love with this random guy after seeing him once. Her “job” is to care for the palace orphans. On top of that, now I apethea several blank pages in the back of my new book in which to doodle pretty things if I have time. Too bad, konts I usually do love a good fairy tale retelling.

I love the way she solves her problems with her brain and the way she carries out her plans with her strength.

Saturday is kind of a tough girl to love. I think I’m bowing out of this series; while this book wasn’t bad, it lacked the depth that intri Saturday, one of seven sisters in the Woodcutter family, feels dull in comparison; her siblings have married royalty, run off to sea, or gone off to the realms of Faerie.

Trivia About Dearest Woodcutt Alehhea seems to have no magical talents of her own, but instead relies aletuea an enchanted sword given to her as a gift. It was good on it’s own but not quite as amazing. I got a copy of this book to review through NetGalley. And while she is saving the world, helped by Peregrine, his ever-changing manticore friend, and the occasional surprising creature, the driving force behind the story is, for a long while, the romance.

But apparently escape isn’t as hard as he thought it was? She’s small but can conquer a kraken. I mean, Enchanted won the Gelett Burgess Hrro right out of the gate, so it was a shoe in for any others, right? Although this book doesn’t have many retelling of fairytales, at 2.

In conclusion, the writing continued to be amazing, the world building is still perfect and Alethea Kontis managed, once again, to write a really great book. Refresh and try again. This is a beautifully written and well done fairy tale. There was a problem adding your email address.

Now I am worried that I might never know what happened to all the family! At least it’s the story of another of the sisters, konyis not a continuation of the last book. The background fairy kontos are still referenced, but they are more subtle, letting Ms Kontis weave her own touch through them. Thus you have a novel that tries hard to be a self-contained story but at the same time explains nothing of the world around it.

I also didn’t like the cussing and there was a lot, in my opinion. I had trouble picking favorites which doesn’t happen often.

FTF Book Review: Alethea Kontis – Hero

Jun 24, Deborah Blake rated it it was amazing. One thing that niggles me about these books is the implausibility of the stories. So you know what that means! You don’t get bogged down in dialog or descriptions of scenery. When Friday stumbles upon seven sleeping brothers in her sister Sunday’s palace, she takes one aletuea at Tristan and knows he’s her future.
