Description
The bike is in excellent shape for a 2017 mountain bike. Everything is in good working order and the bike can be ridden when received. This is the same frame as the Santa Cruz 5010 CC V2. The frame, shock, fork, bottom bracket, headset, seat post, rear wheel, and saddle are from 2017. The shifters, derailleur, brakes, wheels, front wheel, and cranks were “borrowed” from a 2014 Santa Cruz 5010.Frame: Very good. Frame was covered with a complete invisiFRAME protection kit, which has been removed. The Paint is mostly in like new condition, but you can see some very faint discoloration where frame protectant was not over the paint, mostly near the head tube. Of course, there are a few cable rub spots and very few rock chips (see pictures, all carbon is fine). There is a groove from cable rub in the front derailleur mount on the seat stay tube, which is aluminum rather than carbon (see picture). My wife said the cable was tapping against the frame at times, so we zip-tied it to the box, which caused the rub. I decided to leave it loose for sale to make sure you can see it. Structurally, it is fine. All linkage is smooth, free of play, and working well.
Fork: RockShox Pike, 130mm (easily converted to 140mm), I left the invisiFRAME protectant on the fork because I did not want to risk pulling the turquois fork stickers up. The fork has a few scratches where there is no protective covering, most blemishes you see in the pictures are the protectant rather than the paint underneath. You can see the steering stem was cut long, so there is plenty of room to lower the bar height. My wife is 5”4”, so we raised it.
Shock: Fox Float DPS Performance Elite, 130mm
Both the Fork and Shock are in great shape and should have plenty of riding time left before needing service.
Bars: Yeti Carbon 760s, cut to 730mm. In good shape, but there are minor marks to the coating next to shifters. I think these are from tie down straps when it was transported in a trailer one time.
Stem: Renthal Apex 35. I’m measuring it at 50mm, but it’s not stamped so no promises.
Grips: ESI
Brakes: Shimano XT, Rear pads are new, Front pads are good. They are bled and firm, but my experience is that shippers don’t always keep boxes upright, so if they are soft upon delivery, pump them and they should firm up. If they do not, you may need to have them bled again.
Drivetrain: Everything works well and does not have much time, shifting is good, ready to go.
Shifting: Shimano XTR 1x10
Derailleur: Shimano XTR, some scratches, clutch is serviced and good but she normally keeps it disengaged without any chain drop issues.
Front Chainring: SRAM 30t
Rear Cassette: Shimano XT 11-36
Chain: SRAM PC 1071, lubed with Rock-n-Roll Gold, non-oil lubricant
Pulley Wheels: Work but worn. About time to replace.
Dropper Post: Magura Vyron Wireless, 31.6, 125mm travel. Goes up and down as designed, but I wouldn’t say it’s lightning fast coming back up. Definitely not compared to some cable posts. It’s got 210 psi and I will charge it up before shipping.
Saddle: Yeti WTB Volt, small, excellent condition
Wheels/Hubs: 27.5/650b
Front – Stan’s ZTR Crest 650b with Stan’s Non-Boost hub
Rear – Stan’s ZTR Crest MK 650b with DTSwiss 350 Boost hub
Hubs are in great shape. Rims are in okay shape. They are very lightweight and not in perfect condition. The last time at the shop, they said they trued up and were fine to use, but they are not perfectly true.
Thru Axles – Front looks good. Rear has scratches.
Tires: Tubeless Schwalbe Racing Ralph, 27.5 x 2.25, decent tread left, but not new. Tires have fresh sealant.
Headset: Cane Creek 40
Bottom Bracket: Feels good, no play and smooth.
Cranks: SRAM XX1 Carbon, structurally fine, but paint pretty scratched-up from when on 5010 except where protective tape was.
Pedals / Water Bottle Cage: Not included.
Sizing chart says the XS is for 4’8”- 5’1”, but my wife is 5’4” and it fit her very well. She rode a Small Furtado V1, but the V2 is a longer bike, so the XS was perfect.
