Description
The bicycles we sell are best described as "Project Bikes" that have one or more of the following issues:-
frame
damage
- defective and/or worn-out parts
- parts that are missing
We don't perform any maintenance or repair work on the bicycles in our inventory. At a minimum, a bicycle purchased from us will need to be professionally assembled and inspected for safe operation. Most will also need extensive service work.
CONDITION
Our visual inspection of this bicycle was focused mainly on the structural integrity of the
frame
and fork, with less effort devoted to inspection of the components (cockpit, drivetrain, wheels).
Damage that
exceeds
the following common conditions is described further down in this section:
- light scratches and small dings
- minor damage to finish due to cable, heel, and chain rub
- what might be typical for a bike of this type and/or age (e.g. crank arm damage from curb and/or rock strikes, etc.)
Frame
/Fork
We found damage in the following location(s):
- Heavy cosmetic paint damage around lower seat tube bottle cage bolt (image 3)
- Small paint chip in center of drive side down tube
- Moderate paint chip on drive side seat stay near brake
- Several small paint chips/scratches on drive side seat stay near dropout
- Several light paint scratches on both sides of fork
- Moderate paint scratch toward top of seat tube
- Moderate corrosion around top tube cable port
It's the buyer's sole responsibility, ideally in consultation with a carbon repair expert, to determine whether or
not
any area of carbon damage identified in this listing actually needs to be repaired in order for this bicycle to be considered safe to ride, specifically with respect to the structural integrity of the
frame
and fork. For expert inspection and repair of damaged carbon, we recommend Broken Carbon in Boulder, CO.
Cockpit (tape/handlebar/stem/
seatpost/
saddle)
- Moderate scratches on drive side of base bar
- Aero Bars have heavy clear coat damage - may be a good idea to replace aero bars
- Light corrosion to stem hardware
- Seatpost has heavy wear -
not
broken, but if possible, may also be good to replace
- Moderate corrosion on seatpost hardware
Drivetrain (controls/brakes/derailleurs/crankset/cassette/chain)
- Shifters have heavy corrosion/wear
- Heavy wear on crankset chainrings
- Moderate scratch on rear derailleur
- Shifting and braking function, but need adjustments/service
- Bottom bracket is a little rough, could benefit from service
Wheelset
- 650 WHEELS
- Hub bearings are a little rough, could benefit from service
- Light wear to brake tracks
- Light sun fading to carbon

----- ----- ----- -----
With regard to the current state of tune and continued serviceability of the components (cockpit, drivetrain, wheels), assume the following:
- We have
not
checked the torque values of bolts and other fasteners on this bicycle, and it's certainly possible that some, and maybe even all, of these fasteners are
not
tightened to the manufacturers' recommended torque specifications, and, in fact, might actually be loose (e.g. loose enough to cause a component or small part to move unexpectedly or fall off, or otherwise cause a safety hazard and risk of personal injury or death).
- We have
not
checked the condition or adjustment of bearings (headset, bottom bracket, derailleur pulley, hub, freehub), and some or all might need to be adjusted or replaced.
- We have
not
checked the operation of drivetrain control components (shifters, brakes, derailleurs), and some or all might need to be adjusted. In the case of bikes with hydraulic brakes, the front and/or rear brake systems might need to be bled.
- We have
not
evaluated the condition and remaining service life of drivetrain wear components (brake pads, disc brake rotors, cables/housing, chainrings, cassette, chain), and some or all might need to be replaced.
- In the case of bikes with disc brakes, we have
not
checked the alignment of the rotors, and one or both might need to be trued.
- We have
not
checked the alignment of the wheels, and one or both might need to be trued and/or dished.
- We have
not
evaluated the condition of the tires or tubes, and some or all might need to be replaced. In the case of bikes with tubeless compatible rims, we have
not
checked to see if tubeless tape and/or tubeless valve stems are installed. In the case of bikes with
tubular
tires, we have
not
evaluated the age or condition of the
tubular
glue, and it's prudent to assume that the tires need to be re-glued in order achieve a safe and reliable adhesion between tires and rims.
