Description
I’ve decided to sell my 2010 Novara Randonee bicycle. This is now a somewhat rare touring bike because REI no longer carries the Novara line. It is also an amazing long distance touring bike because it is built like an indestructible tank due to its Reynolds 520 steel construction. It’s a Large size and is designed to fit people 5’9” to 6’0” tall. It is also a beautiful blue color. This was also the last year that the Randonees were designed with horizontal top tubes.
Although I bought the bike locally about a year ago from the original owner, who rode it very, very little, I’ve ridden it only once since then. So, I’d like to pass the bike onto someone who will ride it more.
Given its minimal ride history, the bike is in excellent condition. No paint scratches, dings, or any other blemishes.
Before I realized I would not be riding as much as I thought I would, I upgraded the bike with the following components:
1. New Velo Orange aluminum fenders ()
2. New Cateye Padrone CycloComputer model CC-PA100W) ()
3. New Brooks Champion Special B17 Saddle with Copper Rails (5)
4. New Mirrcycle Rearview Mirror ()
5. New Zefal Frame Bicycle Pump, HPX Frame #3 (460-515 mm) ()
6. New Front and Rear Bontrager lights ()
7. New Wellgo Platform Pedals ()
8. New Zefal Christophe Half Toe Clips ()
9. New Vittoria Randonneur Tires , 37-622 (700x35c) ()
10. Two Water Bottles and Holders ()
11. New Bontrager Handlebar Tape ()
12. Shimano Deore R550 Cantilever Brakes (original owner installed)
13. Vintage Jim Blackburn rear rack ()
Total upgrade cost: 7

If it ends up to be more than 0, I’ll just absorb the cost. The bike is just too nice and valuable not to have it professionally packed by my local bike shop.
It will be shipped through Bike Flights via UPS.
Retail price of the stock bike in 2010 from REI was 99. The current 2021 price, based on inflation, is 46. The current REI touring bike, called “Coop” (co-op) and made in China, retails for 99.
I have set a reasonable reserve based on the excellent condition of the bike and the very nice upgrades.
